Freedom Summer Series: From Plantations to Prisons

To create the future we want, we believe that we need to reckon with the past and tell truths about where we are right now. Please join us for From Plantations to Prisons, Part I of our Freedom Summer series. Our first teach-in will focus on the history of racial violence in the U.S. with an emphasis on justice and freedom, and our live music will be all about healing, joy, and love.

Whether you are leading with lived experience or this is your first time engaging with these ideas, you are welcome to participate in this engaged learning series.

Frontyard FM is a grassroots music and community organization located in Brooklyn, NY since 2024. Frontyard is about fostering intergenerational community, collective joy, and supporting local aid through music. We host public concerts and dance parties, free political education events, and mutual aid fundraisers. As a collective of artists, DJs, and musicians, we mix live performance with DJing, spanning a range of genres including R&B, soul, reggae, hip-hop, jazz and house.

Our music and events are rooted in principles of community, love, kindness, and justice. Frontyard FM believes in the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), of prisons, and of all systems of oppression around the world.
